IHS Internal Server Error when SSL is enabled on IHS and Cognos is using HTTP protocol

Summary

If the request to IHS is made over HTTPS, the WAS Plug-in will try to use HTTPS to connect to Cognos by default. Thus, getting a 500 Server error in the browser.

Also, the error found inside the http_plugin.log file is:
ERROR: Connection to IP:9443 failed (111) : Connection refused (local port xxxxx)
ERROR: ws_common: websphereExecute: Failed to create the stream
ERROR: ws_common: websphereHandleRequest: Failed to execute the transaction to 'default_node_cognosserver' on host IP:9443'; will try another one
ERROR: ws_common: websphereWriteRequestReadResponse: Failed to find an app server to handle this request
ERROR: ESI: getResponse: failed to get response: rc = 2
ERROR: [IP://bi/] ws_common: websphereHandleRequest: Failed to handle request rc=2
