Error description
This APAR documents changes to the DB2 Administration Guide Volume 1 SC26-4888-00 which did not make Version 3 GA pubs. This information is continued from II07478, II07866, II08170, II08225, II08603 and II08941. 5740xyr00 R310 DB2 ================================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-52, 2-90, 2-173, 2-178 Change Description: p. 2-52: ------------ To this paragraph: Libraries DSN310.SDSNLINK, DSN310.SDSNLOAD, and DSN310.SDSNEXIT are separate to allow users who are supporting two levels of DB2 to access modules from either level by using STEP LIB and JOBLIB statements. This also minimizes the number of IPLs required by corrective service to DB2 load modules, and it reduces the size of the LNKLST lookaside (LLA) list. add this sentence: When SDSNLOAD and SDSNEXIT are used together, list SDSNEXIT first to override the IBM defaults in SDSNLOAD. p. 2-90 ------------ Change this sentence: Specify the name of the library where your DSNZPARM module, DSNHDECP module, and exit routines are placed. to: Specify the name of the library where your DSNZPARM module, DSNHDECP module, and exit routines are placed. When SDSNLOAD and SDSNEXIT are used together, list SDSNEXIT first to override the IBM defaults in SDSNLOAD. p. 2-173 ------------ To this paragraph: If you do not include the DFSORT library in the LNKLSTxx member, you must provide a JOBLIB or STEPLIB statement for all utility jobs that include the DFSORT program library. You can accomplish this by placing a STEPLIB statement in DSNUPROC, which appears later in this job. Add this sentence: If you use customized modules and exits, SDSNEXIT must precede SDSNLOAD in JOBLIBs and STEPLIBs. p. 2-178: ------------ Change the passage from: If you added a STEPLIB statement to the DB2 start procedures ahead of DSN310.SDSNEXIT and DSN310.SDSNLOAD, you might want to move the SYSLMOD output to that library. to: If you added a STEPLIB statement to the DB2 start procedures, modify the SYSLMOD steps to point to the library in the STEPLIB statement instead of the one in SDSNEXIT. ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-81 Change Description: Add this to the description for VOLUME SERIAL 1: This volume is used for DSN310.NEW.SDSNTEMP and DSN310.NEW.SDSNSAMP. ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-111 Change Description: Change the second paragraph under 7. USE 3990-3 SEQ CACHE to: Specifying Yes can improve performance because 3990 caching can transfer data between DASD and cache by the cylinder rather than by the track. This option is available on storage control devices 3990-6 and above and 3990-3 devices with the Extended Platform feature at microcode levels after June 1993. ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-213 Change Description: Replace this passage: After you start DB2, check outstanding restrictions. Id databases whose uses are restricted with the command: -DISPLAY DATABASE(*) SPACENAM(*) RESTRICT Expect message DSNT501I (reason code C900A6) because you have not yet run job DSNTIJTC. You do this in migration step 18. You can start some of these databases at this time. For more information on starting restricted databases, see "Starting Databases" on page 6-26. With this passage: In the next step you migrate the DB2 catalog. Before the catalog is migrated, some catalog or directory tablespaces are restricted. Expect message DSNT501I with reason code C900A6 during DB2 startup because of these restrictions. You can determine existing restrictions by issuing this command after you start DB2. -DISPLAY DATABASE(*) SPACENAM(*) RESTRICT ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-216 Change Description: Add this sentence to sub-step 3 of Migration Step 24: Comment out the GRANT statements to avoid SQLCODEs that are unknown in DB2 Version 2 Release 3. ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-135 and 2-136 Change Description: p. 2-135 Delete "marked 'see page 2-135'" from the paragraph that begins "Passwords marked...." Add archive logs to the list of adopted items in the paragraph on page 2-135 that begins "Updating the parameters". ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-146 Change Description: Either the minutes or seconds specification can be blank, but you cannot specify 0 minutes as currently documented. Change the text following 'Acceptable values' to 'see below'. Change the first paragraph to: Specify the length of time an archive read tape unit is allowed to remain unused before it is deallocated. Use "minutes, seconds" (blank or 1-1439, blank or 0-59), 1440 (minutes), or NOLIMIT. ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-166 Change Description: Correct the reference for UTIMOUT in the DSNZPARM Parameter Directory from: UTIMOUT DSN6SPRM DSNTIPF 8 2-123 to: UTIMOUT DSN6SPRM DSNTIPI 8 2-129 ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-220 Change Description: Replace the last paragraph on the page with this sentence: LOAD jobs lock the entire table space unless the INTO TABLE specification includes a partition and does not include the RESUME keyword. ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-226 Change Description: Add these two sentences to Step 4: Reconnect TSO, IMS, and CICS to Version 2 Release 3: If you overwrote the load module during migration to DB2 Version 3, reassemble the RCT with the Version 2 Release 3 libraries. If you did not overwrite the load module, change the STEPLIB statements for CICS and IMS jobs so they refer to the Version 2 Release 3 libraries. ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-233 Change Description: Add this text after the first sentence on the page: These programs need to be run sequentially by phase because the output of some jobs is used as input for following jobs. You must use the same compiler for each job. For example, if you use COB2 for DSNTEJ2C, you must use COB2 for all COBOL verification programs. =============================================================== Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-235 Change Description: IVP job DSNTEJ3C does not need a JOBLIB concatenation for the COB2 library. Remove the last three bullets from the changes for job DSNTEJ3C. The first two bullets remain: Job DSNTEJ3C: - Change all occurrences of DSNHCOB to DSNHCOB2. - Change all occurrences of (COBOL) to (COB2). ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: DB2 Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-236 Change Description: Halfway down the page, add a footnote to COBOL/370: Or, for IBM SAA AD/Cycle COBOL/370 (1) At the bottom of the page, add the corresponding footnote. Replace the existing note with the following text: (1) Notes for users of IBM SAA AD/Cycle COBOL/370 (sometimes called COBOL LE/370) Version 1 Release 1: o Change the VS COBOL II data set names in the DSNHCOB2 JCL procedure to the corresponding COBOL/370 names. This is done automatically if you enter the COBOL/370 data set names in the installation CLIST panel DSNTIPU. o Increase the region size to 2MB for jobs DSNTEJ2C and DSNTEJ5C for the job to complete successfully. Other jobs can use the JES2 default. For detailed instructions, see IBM SAA AD/Cycle COBOL/370 Programming Guide and IBM SAA AD/Cycle Language Environment/370 Programming Guide. ============================================================ Version 3 Book Title: Administration Guide, Vol. I Pages: 2-313 Change Description: Add this sentence before the last sentence in Preparing CICS Applications for DB2: If your applications make DSNTIAC calls, make sure you have made the changes mentioned in page 2-255, Using CICS Storage-Handling Facilities. =============================================================== This APAR is continued in II08941.
