How To Set The Browser for IBM Navigator for i When Launched Via ACS

How To

Summary

This document describes how to set the Browser that is launched when trying to access IBM Navigator for i from Access Client Solutions

Environment

This option was added via an RFE in the 1.1.8.3 version of Access Client Solutions.

Steps

Specify the following 3 properties in your AcsConfig.properties file:
com.ibm.iaccess.browser=<path to browser> For example: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" com.ibm.iaccess.javaAwtDesktopAllowed=false
com.ibm.iaccess.fileopen=<path to program to open files> For example: C:\Windows\explorer.exe

Additional Information

NOTE: Setting javaAwtDesktopAllowed=false is necessary to give ACS the control needed to launch the browser you specify. However, that will also turn off java.awt.Desktop which inhibits some ACS features from opening files. The "fileopen" property, when set to explorer.exe, should restore the ability to open files just like ACS did prior to setting javaAwtDesktopAllowed=false.
