  • GPFS  shuts down with the following message
"logAssertFailed: holdCount > 0" found in the
GPFS log file.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Benefits of the solution:
Less GPFS shut downs

Work Around:
Reduce the pagepool contention by tuning
the workload and increasing the pagepool size.

Problem trigger:
Heavy pagepool activity, particularly with heavy
page steal activity and also low memory
configurations with compacted objects.

Symptom:
GPFS will abruptly shut down with the following
message  "logAssertFailed: holdCount > 0"
found in the GPFS log file.
