PowerKVM is affected by a vulnerability in strongSwan. This vulnerability is now fixed.

CVEID: CVE-2015-8023
DESCRIPTION: strongSwan could allow a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions, caused by the failure to properly validate local state by the server implementation of the EAP-MSCHAPv2 protocol in the eap-mschapv2 plugin. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability using empty Success message to bypass the authentication process.

PowerKVM 2.1
Remediation/Fixes
Customers can update PowerKVM systems by using "yum update".
Fix images are made available via Fix Central.
For version 2.1, see PowerKVM 2.1.1.3-65.8 Update https://ibm.biz/BdEnT8 and all later 2.1.1 service updates. Customers running v2.1 are, in any case, encouraged to upgrade to v3.1.

Workarounds and Mitigations
v2.1 customers can work around the problem by upgrading to the fixed release of v3.1
