This document contains IBM® AIX® system requirements for IBM WebSphere® Virtual Enterprise Version 7.0.

This document describes the minimum product levels that need to be installed before opening a problem report with the WebSphere Virtual Enterprise Support team. Because other products frequently ship fixes, updates, and new releases, testing every configuration is not possible. In general, you can install and run with updates to supported products if those updates are forward compatible. For additional information about available support for configurations that are not included in the following list, refer to support article, WebSphere Application Server has grown and so have your requirements.


Operating Systems
supported with 32-bit WebSphere Virtual Enterprise
  • AIX 7.1 with Recommended Maintenance package 7100-00-01 (See Required Detail 1)
  • AIX 6.1 with Recommended Maintenance package 6100-00-04
  • AIX 5L 5.3 with Service Pack 5300-07-01 (32-bit and 64-bit kernel support)
  • AIX product site
Operating Systems
supported with 64-bit WebSphere Virtual Enterprise
  • AIX 7.1 with Recommended Maintenance package 7100-00-01 (See Required Detail 1)
  • AIX 6.1 with Recommended Maintenance package 6100-00-04
  • AIX 5L 5.3 with Service Pack 5300-07-01 (32-bit and 64-bit kernel support)

Hardware Requirements
For IBM AIX (32-bit WebSphere Virtual Enterprise)
  • Any system from the IBM POWER® family of processors
  • Minimum 1 GB of available disk space
  • Minimum 512 MB physical memory; 1 GB recommended
  • DVD-ROM drive

For IBM AIX (64-bit WebSphere Virtual Enterprise)
  • Any system from the IBM POWER family of processors
  • Minimum 1 GB of available disk space
  • Minimum 1 GB physical memory recommended
  • DVD-ROM drive

Software Requirements
To run the WebSphere Virtual Enterprise controller, your system must contain WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment Version 7.0.0.17 or later.
    The WebSphere Virtual Enterprise node is supported in WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment environments and other middleware server environments.

    Supported Levels of Integration Software
    • IBM License Metric Tool (LMT) Version 7.2
    • IBM DB2® Version 9.1
    • IBM Derby SDK Version 10.3

    Required Details:
    1WebSphere Application Server Technotes for AIX 7.1

    2 64-bit hardware is required to run AIX 6.1 (POWER4, POWER5, or POWER6 systems only). Architecture models that use 604e processors are not 64-bit capable and will not run AIX 6.1.
