Adding properties to a class with the IBM FileNet Content Engine on DB2 receives error of "length exceeding capacity of the database"

Troubleshooting

Problem

Adding FileNet Content Engine properties to a class on DB2 can fail if the space required by the new column on the underlying DB2 database table, combined with the space consumed by columns already on the table, is greater than the maximum rowsize of 32K.

Symptom

The following error is received when adding the new property: "The summation of column lengths exceeds the capacity of the underlying database. Verify the pagesize of the hosting tablespace (32K). If that's correct, decrease the maximum lengths of properties within the class definition's hierarchy until the operation can proceed or enable Table Overflow support in CE 5.0 and later.".
