Delete drive path command fails with ANR1727E does not exist.

Troubleshooting

Problem

When trying to delete a drive path the following error is reported: ANR1727E A path from LIB_MANAGER to DRIVE1 3584LIB does not exist. After the delete command fails the query path command shows the path still exists.

Cause

This can happen when the Tivoli Storage Manager server name is changed after the drive paths have been defined under the original Tivoli Storage Manager server name. The source_name in the path definition is the server name, and is required when deleting the drive paths, but if the Server name has changed then using the new source_name will cause the delete path command to fail.

Resolving The Problem

If the server name has changed and you know the old server name do the following:

1. Change the Tivoli Storage Manage server name back to the old name.
2. Delete the paths and library defined under the old server name.
3. Set the server back to the new name.

Note that when Tivoli Storage Manager is installed for the first time the name defaults to SERVER1. If the server name has never changed since initial installation, then try changing the name back to SERVER1, and then delete the drive path or the library path.

If this does not resolve the problem, then there may be an internal Tivoli Storage Manage DB problem that will require manual intervention to delete the path information. Call support to resolve this problem.
