Provide DB2 V8 support and IMS V9 rununder support in Application Recovery Tool for IMS and DB2
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Application Recovery Tool for IMS * * and DB2 Databases. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: -DB2 V8 Support * * -IMS V 9 Support * * -msgIEF642I (EXCESSIVE PARAMETER * * LENGTH ON THE JOB STATEMENT) is issued * * when submitting the DRM#XIN1 * * installation member. * * -Enhancement : ART should prevent the * * user to specifiy obviously incorrect * * dsnames for the test parmlib. * * -BIND fails for those DB2 subsystems * * that are not running on the current * * LPAR (the one on which the interactive * * part of ART is being run) * * -IMS functions enter an infinite loop * * if DB=* is coded and a Fast path * * database exists in the IMS. * * -Support of very large number of * * objects. When ART is run against a * * very large number of objects (either * * with IMS or with DB2), generated jobs * * fail because the JCL contains more * * steps or more DD cards than allowed. * * -Enhancement : Run COPY UTILITY with * * CHECKPAGE and or PARALLEL option * * -DRMIIC : incorrect COPY sysin * * generated when DDMAX is set to blank * * within DRMXCUST member of DRMPARM. * * The operand for the FULL keyword is * * missing. * * -DRMFIC,DRMIIC,DRMMERGE,DRMRECOV : * * useless steps (void sysin) are * * generated when DDMAX is set to blank * * within DRMXCUST member of DRMPARM. * * Example : Steps such as the following * * one are generated. * * * * //S1 EXEC PGM=DSNUTILB,REGION=4M, * * PARM='DZ7A,IBMUSERR', * * // COND=((4,LT)) * * //STEPLIB DD DSN=DSNDZ7G.SDSNLOAD, * * DISP=SHR * * //SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=* * * //SYSUDUMP DD SYSOUT=* * * //SYSIN DD * * * /* * * -Endless loop (or other impredictable * * issue) while reading the IMS RECON * * when the RECON data set contains very * * long records * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install this APAR fix PQ84689. * ****************************************************************
Problem conclusion
Temporary fix
Comments
-Numerous changes have been made to make ART compatible with DB2 V8 -The IMS V9 changes has almost no impact on ART. After carefully reading the IMS V9 release guide, very slight changes have been made to make ART compatible with IMS V9. -Programmer's name option within the JOB card of the DRM#XIN1 member has been shortened. -DRMPPLIB panel has been modified so that the incorrect value is rejected and a message is issued to inform the user about the error. -CSXINSTL, SDIUX83 and CSKINS2 has been modified and SDIUX21 has been created so that the BIND is only run for those DB2 susbsytems that are supposed to be active on the current partition (where the interactive part of ART is being used). The relationship between DB2 ssid and system name is assumed to be that indicated withi the DRMDSGS member. -S710Y27, S810Y27 have been modified. -CS1RECOV, SDIUU40, SDIUU72, SDIUY72, CS1IC csect and CSSRECOV, CSSRECTS, CSSRECFR, CSSRCHAL, CSSIXHAL, CSSFAVIM, CSURECOV, CS1IC, CSSIC, CSSIMSEX, CSSIMSOL, CSSIMSI2, CSUIC, CUSTOM skeletons have been changed. -Skeletons were modified so that COPY sysin with CHECKPAGE and/or PARALLEL keywords can be generated. -DDMAX defaults to 1635 -DDMAX defaults to 1635 -ART first rebuilds the long records to get a record readable by the current reading routine. To be able to handle huge records (up to 16 Mb), some load modules now have the AMODE(31).
