PI49907: DYNAMIC ALLOCATION FAILURE WITH RSN=035C0010 IN CREATE IMAGE COPY FUNCTION

Error description

• Dynamic Allocation failure with RSN=035C0010 is detected in the
  Create Image Copy function of IMS HP Image Copy when unit name
  in Image Copy record of DBRC RECON is not real unit name in the
  system.

  *                      the following conditions are            *
  *                      satisfied:                              *
  *                      -The process runs with DBRC=Y, and      *
  *                       IGNORCAT=N.                            *
  *                      -Input image copy data set is           *
  *                       expected to be allocated dynamically   *
  *                       in the process.                        *
  *                      -CATDS option is defined in DBRC        *
  *                       RECON.                                 *
  *                      -Input image copy data set is           *
  *                       registered in DBRC, and its UNIT       *
  *                       name information is incorrect.         *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *

  The Create Image Copy (CRC) function of IMS HP Image Copy
  terminates with ABEND U3916 ( ABENDU3916 ) and message
  FABJ3916E ( MSGFABJ3916E ) when all of the following conditions
  are satisfied:
  -The process runs with DBRC=Y, and IGNORCAT=N.
  -Input image copy data set is expected to be allocated
   dynamically in the process.
  -CATDS option is defined in DBRC RECON.
  -Input image copy data set is registered in DBRC, and its UNIT
   name information is incorrect.
  
  The cause of a problem is that IMS HP Image Copy allocates the
  input image copy data set dynamically by using UNIT name
  information of the image copy record in DBRC RECON instead of
  catalog information, but it is not validated name.
  Therefore, DYNALLOC process fails with RC=1E and RSN=035C0010.
  

Problem conclusion

• By this APAR, the Create Image Copy function refers to catalog
  for information about the input image copy data set, and uses
  it as the parameter of the DYNALLOC request when CATDS is
  defined in DBRC and the input image copy data set is cataloged.
  The Create Image Copy function still uses information in image
  copy record in DBRC.
  
  When the Create Image Copy function runs under one following
  conditions, information in image copy record in DBRC uses as
  the parameter of DYNALLOC:
  -NOCATDS is defined.
  -Image Copy data set is not cataloged.
  -IGNORCAT=Y is requested.
