SAz/OS Maintenance to install when moving to the z15 processor

Question & Answer

Question

Moving to the IBM z15 processor and wondering what SAz/OS maintenance to install?

Answer

Although not HIPER APARs, installing the following SAz/OS maintenance will enable you to take advantage of the specified new features:
1) OA58302 - TRIGGER SYSTEM RECOVERY BOOST DURING SYSTEM SHUTDOWN FROM INGREQ OR VIA GDPS.
Without this installed, you will not be able to take advantage of the System Recovery Boost at system shutdown, but I don't believe you would experience any issues.
2) OA58410 - D/T8561 ADDITIONAL EXPLOITATION AND MACHINE TYPE RELATED ISQCCMD POWERMOD CHANGES AND D/T8562 TOLERATION SUPPORT.
Without this maintenance, you will not be able to utilize the following Hardware Automation commands were added or changed:
New ISQCCMD 'GETSCONN' command: GETSCONN allows to query if a specific target hardware is accessible for SA hardware automation.
Changed ISQCCMD 'POWERMOD' command: POWERMOD allows to query and - if enabled - change the power consumption of a target hardware. New Status 'STATIC' is introduced to the command report to inform that power mode change function is not available on that target hardware.

3) OA57637 - IBM z15 Toleration and initial exploitation
Without this maintenance, you will not be able to take advantage of the ISQCCMD GETIBOOST command that returns information about the system recovery boost mode of the targeted system or LPAR.
