This APAR fixes the following problems of IMS HP Image Copy.

    - Image Copy function terminates with ABEND S0C4 ( ABEND0C4 )
when the image copy data set is allocated on multiple volumes
      whose volume count exceeds 48.

The cause of the problem is that IMS HP Image Copy obtains
storage for saving volume serial number which can only keep 48
volumes. When more than 48 volumes are needed for a image copy
data set, IMS HP Image Copy tries to store information beyond
the obtained storage boundary. As the result, the process
      terminates with ABEND S0C4.

    - By the FDUMP process of Advanced Image Copy Services,
incorrect volume information is used for the primary image
      copy data set.

IMS HP Image Copy overrides the volume information for the
primary image copy data set by ones of the shadow data set.

If the volume information of the shadow data set is not proper
for the unit of the primary image copy data set, IMS HP Image
Copy can not create the primary image copy data set.

Problem conclusion

  • By this APAR, IMS HP Image Copy has been changed to obtain
storage which can store volume names up to maximum volume
    count(255).

Also, IMS HP Image Copy has been modified to use the volume
information of the primary image copy data set correctly.
