After upgrading Planning Analytics Administration Agent version: "Agent unreachable" and "Cannot display resource information" errors in the web interface

Troubleshooting


Problem

After the Planning Analytics Administration Agent (PAAA) has been updated with a newer version, the "Databases" tab of the Planning Analytics Workspace Administration page displays
"Agent unreachable" error at the top
and
"Cannot display resource information" error for each TM1 server.

The messages.log (in C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1_64\paa_agent\wlp\usr\servers\kate-agent\logs) contains errors of that type:
0000003c      com.ibm.pa.kate.agent.service.PAKateAgentService    E Exception     java.lang.NullPointerException
