Disabling and re-enabling Oracle SSL authentication

How To

Summary

In some situations, you might need to disable and then re-enable Oracle SSL authentication. For example, when you are upgrading to IBM Business Automation Workflow V19.0.0.3 you must disable Oracle SSL authentication before upgrading and then re-enable it after upgrading.

Steps

Disabling Oracle SSL authentication
  1. Go to <ORACLE_HOME>/network/admin and back up your files by using the sqlnet.ora/listener.ora/tnsnames.ora file.
  2. Open the <ORACLE_HOME>/network/admin/sqlnet.ora file and remove the TCPS value from the SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES parameter.
  3. Open the listener.ora file and remove the line with the TCPS protocol from the address list:
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCPS)(HOST = <oracle_server_host>)(PORT = <secure_port>))
  4. Restart the Oracle listener to apply the changes.

Re-enabling Oracle SSL authentication
  1. Restore the backup in the sqlnet.ora/listener.ora/tnsnames.ora file to the <ORACLE_HOME>/network/admin directory.
  2. Restart the Oracle listener to apply the changes.
