Abstract
On a system running v8.3.1.1 software, deleting or migrating a Change Volume that was created on an earlier software version can cause all nodes to warmstart, as part of a automatic cluster recovery (T2), if the change volume is not first removed from its Remote-Copy relationship.
No other software versions are affected.

Description
Certain administration tasks may require deletion or migration of a Remote-Copy relationship's Change Volumes, so that the relationship or volumes can be modified.
In v8.3.1 software, a volume has a new internal attribute that denotes whether it is a Change Volume.
When systems are upgraded to v8.3.1.1, Change Volumes that already exist don't inherit the correct value for this attribute.
When systems are upgraded to v8.3.1.1, Change Volumes that already exist don't inherit the correct value for this attribute.
If an attempt is made to delete or migrate such a Change Volume, then it is not identified by the software as a Change Volume.
The Change Volume deletion results in an inconsistency in the cluster state information that can cause all nodes to warmstart as part of a recurring automatic cluster recovery (T2), which will place the nodes into a 564 state.
The Change Volume migration process results is the same inconsistency, with an automatic cluster recovery (T2), however this would be a single instance and the nodes and cluster would recover and remain active.
Note: The HyperSwap volume expansion feature added in the v8.3.1 software is unaffected.

Use the documented procedure to remove a Change Volume from its relationship, before deleting or migrating:-

This issue is resolved by APAR HU02216, which is included in the v8.3.1.2 PTF.
