Abstract

After you successfully download the Bot Agent installer by clicking ‘Add local device…’, the service does not get installed properly and the device is not registered. Instead you see the message: "An unexpected error has occurred".

The issue is caused by the bot scheduling algorithm, which uses queues to dispatch bots to run on devices. Occasionally, when devices go offline and come up later, the scheduling algorithm cannot determine the device on which to run the bot.
This is a known issue, which will be fixed in the next release. Until the release becomes available, you can download and install a utility to clean up queue-related database table entries. This utility must be run on the system where Control Room is installed.

The utility is available for download from IBM Support Fix Central.

Installing the utility

Install and run the utility on the system where you installed Control Room.
  1. Extract the files in the .zip file. You should see the following files on your system:
    • AADBCleanup.bat
    • Clean.out
    • Clean.sql
  2. From the directory that contains the extracted files, run AADBCleanup.bat.
  3. When prompted, enter the name of the Control Room database, for example, AAE-Database.
  4. When the cleanup utility is finished processing the database table entries, you can check the results in the Clean.out file.
