  • GPFS daemon failed to start with
"Cannot allocate memory"
error when prefetchThreads is set to less than 3.

Local fix

  • Set prefetchThreads to 3 or higher.

Problem conclusion

  • Benefits of the solution:
Prevent setting prefetchThreads to a value
smaller than 3 which is the minimum required to start
GPFS daemon.
Work Around:
Set prefetchThreads to 3 or higher.
Problem trigger:
Setting prefetchThreads to less than 3.
