PH26316: URBANCODE DEPLOY WEB AGENT INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO CONNECT TO SERVER OR RELAY

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• UrbanCode Deploy (UCD) Web Agent intermittently fails to
  connect to Server. The following exception shows in the
  agent log:
  com.urbancode.air.agent.comm.AgentPublicKeyPinHandler - SSL
  handshake failed: ch=XXX local=/XXX remote=XXX
  java.nio.channels.ClosedChannelException
  
  This is known to affect multi-node UCD Server setups with
  one or more nodes inactive, and especially network topologies
  containing a load balancer or other middle-box between the relay
  and servers.
  

Local fix

• There are three known ways to workaround this issue:
  1. Remove Agent configuration properties which points the Agent
  to Servers and Relays which are known to be offline
  2. Ensure middle-man or loadbalancer is not accepting
  connections to offline servers
  3. Restart the agent until it shows online. (This works because
  the agent will shuffle its connection path list on startup,
  allowing valid connection paths to be reshuffled to the top.)
