Comments
A previous SPE established infrastructure to generate new ODBA tracepoints. This service builds upon this by adding a wide range of new tracepoints to both ODBA-related modules and to RRS modules. The primary changes in this APAR involved adding new tracepoints. DFSAERC0 ------------------- Tracing was added at key junctures in the module. DFSAERN0 ------------------- Add trace points to record ODBA calls processed by this module, and the function code of the ODBA call. DFSDSC00 ------------------- Tracepoints were added to each of the 5 DBCTL syncpoint processor functions: prepare, commit, abort, full syncpoint, and internal rollback. DFSDTTA0 ------------------- A tracepoint was added to gather more information at the call to the SCHD trace. DFSERRS0 ------------------- A tracepoint was added to trace the RRS end of task exit. DFSRRSI0 ------------------- RRS type tracepoints were added to the RRS functions that did not have existing tracing. These additinal tracepoints will serve to flesh out the existing RRS tracing so that all RRS functions in the module are traced. Additionally, in the DFSRRSE0 CSECT, ODBA type tracepoints were added to trace each exit type. DFSTRACE ------------------- Add code for ODBA trace table processing. DFSTRAE0 ------------------- The RRST and ODBA trace subfunction tables were expanded to provide equates for the new tracepoints. Additionally, the ODBA trace modules table was expanded to cover the modules traced in this APAR. DFSRRST0, DFSERA30, DFSERA61 ---------------------------- Recompile to pick up changes to trace macros. The following documentation changes are included in this apar. SRL: SC19364900 Title: Commands, Volume 2: IMS Commands N-V Section: /TRACE commands-->/TRACE TABLE command Add the new trace table type ODBA to the syntax diagram, and add the following text to describe it: ODBA Indicates that the IMS Open Database Manager (ODBA) trace is to be activated or deactivated. Add a new line in "Table 2. Trace tables and environments in which they are valid" Type ODBA is valid for DB/DC and DBCTL, and not DCCTL. SRL: GC19365400 Title: Diagnosis Section: DB - Database service aids and SYS - System service aids New subsection: ODBA trace Change 1: SYS - System Service Aids-->Common trace table interface ---------------------------------------------- Add a new line to the common trace table interface table for the new trace type. Trace: ODBA trace Table type: ODBA ID: OD Traced events: ODBA activity Where described: (link to the new section in the diagnostics manual) Change 2: DB - Database service aids-->ODBA trace -------------------------------------------------- Add a new section for the ODBA traces under "Database Service Aids". This section will be structured similarly to the section on OTMA traces under "OTMA Diagnostic Aids". Starting the ODBA trace ----------------------- The /TRACE SET ON TABLE ODBA command activates the trace and sends the entries to an internal table. You can format the table using the Offline Dump Formatter under IPCS, using either the VERBX command or the IMS Dump Formatter panels. If a SNAP dump is taken, the table is formatted as part of the IMS dump. If you add the OPTION LOG parameter to the /TRACE command, IMS sends the output to an external data set. You can use the File Select and Format utility (DFSERA10) with exit routine DFSERA60 to format trace entries.
