APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The catalog DDIR has a flag indicating it is the catalog
    database. That flag is not logged in the checkpoint log
    records. The flag should be logged for utilities to determine
    the catalog databases.

    The following parts have been changed:

     ************
     * DFSCHKPT *
     ************

     The flag CHK3CDD has been defined in the 4006 log record
     byte CHKDDFG1. The flag indicates if the database is an
     IMS catalog database or not.

     ************
     * DFSRCP40 *
     ************

     Code has been added after label LG4006N to check if the
     DDIR is an IMS catalog database. When the database is the
     IMS catalog, the flag CHK3CDD will be set in flag byte
     CHKDDFG1 in the 4006 log record.

     ************
     * DFSRESP0 *
     ************

     Code has been added after label LG4006D5 to check if the
     database is an IMS catalog database. When the database is the
     IMS catalog, the flag DDIR3CDD will be set in flag byte
     DDIRFLGD in the DDIR control block.

    Note: A cold start is required to remove any orphaned catalog
    DDIRs that were created before this fix was applied. Before
    this APAR there was no flag in the log to allow IMS to
    determine which DDIRs were created to be used as the IMS
    catalog which is why this APAR was required.
    After this APAR is applied and the catalog is enabled
    any orphaned DDIRs will be automatically removed at the next
    restart of IMS.
