Abstract
This technote is intended to provide a description of the different components of IBM Wazi Developer for Red Hat CodeReady Workspaces and to explain the support that IBM offers for each component.
This technote does not replace the license agreement of IBM Wazi Developer for Red Hat CodeReady Workspaces or its IBM Software Lifecycle policy.
Content
IBM Wazi Developer for Red Hat CodeReady Workspaces includes components that IBM provides with different levels of support. Supported and unsupported components are listed in the license provided with IBM Wazi Developer for Red Hat CodeReady Workspaces and its announcement letter.
Two main capabilities:
- Code is a capability of the Program that enables edit, build, and debug of z/OS software.
- Sandbox is a capability of the Program that provides a virtual Z Development and Test Environment running on OpenShift.

Software-based License Server needs to be a static resource in any infrastructure configuration. In a virtualized or cloud infrastructure, it does not tolerate physical moving. If the Software-based License Server is manually or automatically moved return the license before you move the server, acquire the license after movement, and configure the Software-based License Server again.

The emulator, referred to in the Redbooks as zPDT® (the IBM System z Personal Development Tool), is any part of the program that runs while the z Systems hardware is being simulated. It is composed of programs that run on Linux and includes the program awsstart, the device emulators such as awsosa, awsckd, awstape and other programs that perform the actual simulation.
The programs that provide simulation of the z Systems environment are supported. |

ADCD stack is not supported, see restriction (1), except for the items listed below:
See restriction (4) and (5) for DBB and z/OS® Debugger
Rocket Git for z/OS® is supported but through the separate paid offering IBM Elite Support for Rocket Software Git for z/OS®
Rocket Python is not supported

|
||||
| Not supported through cases | ||
| (1) ADCD stack | Other z/os software such as zOSMF, CICS, IMS/ESA®, DB2®, z/OS® Connect,... |
If you suspect errors in a product in the distributions and you have active entitlement to the product, you should report the error through support channel for this product.
You might be asked to reproduce the error on real IBM Z hardware.
|
| (2) Node.js |
Node.js is a prerequisite for Zowe CLI.
Support would be provided through the channel from where Node.js was acquired.
|
|
| OpenShift | Support would be provided through the channel from where Red Hat OpenShift has been acquired. | |
| (3) Open-source | Either embedded in Wazi like Tomcat, Eclipse, Eclipse Che/Theia or possibly interacting with Wazi like Jenkins, Git client, GitHub,... | |
| (4) Samples |
Samples on GitHub like
https://github.com/IBM/zopeneditor-sample.git
https://github.com/IBM/dbb-zappbuild
https://github.com/IBM/dbb/ |
Issues can be reported on the GitHub repository |
|
(5) Use Limitations: Use by Principal Program
|
|
"Use by Principal Program" means that the Supporting Program is provided exclusively for use by the Principal Program. No Licensee or any application, program, or device is authorized to directly use or access the services of the Supporting Program except Licensee might access the Supporting Program to perform administrative functions for the Supporting Program such as backup, recovery, and authorized configuration.
Therefore, DBB server is not provided with IBM Wazi for Red Hat CodeReady Workspaces and therefore not supported through cases.
IBM Wazi for Red Hat CodeReady Workspaces is meant to debug in either Z Open Editor or Z Open Development.
3270 Debugging is out of Wazi usage scope and not supported through cases.
|
| Microsoft Visual Studio Code | Support would be provided through the channel from where VS code has been acquired. | |
