EclipseLink uses the query "VALUES(1)" to test database connections for DB2 z/os. This query is invalid for this platform.

This query is invalid for DB2 z/OS and will fail. This can cause errors to be logged on the database, but EclipseLink will swallow the failure and not change behavior. The correct query for DB2 is to query the SYSIBM.SYSDUMMY1 table.
Problem conclusion
The fix for this APAR changes the EclipseLink implementation and involves an update to the third-party source. See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=559896 This fix is currently targeted for WebSphere Application Server 9.0.5.5 and WebSphere Liberty 20.0.0.5.
