Error description

  • USER AFFECTED: The issue happens on unix systems only
    PROBLEM SUMMARY: In some cases when a distributed system such as
    Linux or AIX where the agent is installed is rebooted, the agent
    daemon starts before the network services.
    In these cases, the agent daemon starts successfully, but the
    message server that accepts incoming requests fails to
    initialize and consequently the agent is unable to receive
    messages.
    

Local fix

  • Restart the agent after network services have started.
    

Problem summary

  • PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: TWS agent creates a communication server
    that is used to communicate with the MDM or zController.
    The initialization of this communication server requires that
    network services are up and running, otherwise some system calls
    returning network configuration details could fail.
    If an error occurs during this initialization phase, the agent
    stays up and running but cannot receive messages.
    The fix will try to re-initialize the message server in case an
    error occurs.
    RECOMMENDATION: Make sure that the network system services are
    configured to start before the start of the TWS agent service.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The apar will be fixed in TWS 9.1fp3, TWS 9.2fp4, TWS 9.3fp4,
    TWS 9.4fp5
