Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the Db2 Administration Tool for * * z/OS and Object Comparison Tool for z/OS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR provides enhancements to * * support Db2 function level 504. * * * * Changes are in the following areas: * * 1. GEN * * 2. Change Management(CM) / * * Object Compare * * 3. CM batch * * 4. ADBTEP2 * * 5. MIG * * 6. Catalog Copy * **************************************************************** Function level 504 enhancements: Objects that were deprecated in FL 504 can be still be processed by Db2 Admin Tool and Object Compare. For certain functions, you must set additional parameters as follows: 1. GEN Set the 'Target Function Level' field on the panel ADB2GEN 'Generate SQL from DB2 catalog' to 503 or lower, to support creating or altering (DROP/CREATE) segmented or partitioned (non-UTS) tables spaces. GEN will lower the function level (SET APPLCOMPAT) to function level 503, execute the SQL statement, and then restore the original function level. Many components, such as Object Compare, Cloning and Migrate, use GEN to accomplish its function. 2. Change Management / Object Compare Set the 'DB2 function level' field on the panel ADB2PCO 'Options for Change Functions' to 503 or lower, and set the 'Target Function Level' field on the panel ADB2GEN 'Generate SQL from DB2 catalog' to 503 or lower. 3. CM batch Add TGT_DB2FL = '503' in your batch job to create deprecated table spaces. By default, ADBTEP2 retries a failed SQL statement (SQLCODE = -20008, unsupported feature) at a lower Db2 function level (SET APPLCOMPAT as above). If you do not want to retry these statements that fail with SQLCODE -20008, add ADBTEP2_RETRY_DEPRECATED_OBJ = NO. 4. ADBTEP2 By default, ADBTEP2 retries a failed SQL statement (SQLCODE = -20008, unsupported feature) at a lower Db2 function level (SET APPLCOMPAT as above). If you do not want to retry the statements that fail with SQLCODE -20008, set the 'Retry Deprecated Obj' field on the panel ADB2UPA 'Batch Job Utility Parameters' to NO when using the online interface or set RETRY_DEPRECATED_OBJ = NO in the ADBTEP2 job. 5. MIG (Migrate) To migrate deprecated objects in FL 504 or above: - If the source system is bound at function Level 503 or lower, the target system must be bound at FL 503 or lower. - If the source system is bound at function level 504 or above, the target system must be bound at the same function level. Non-deprecated objects can run on all function levels. The requirements for setting additional function level parameters will be removed in a future APAR. Additionally, Db2 Admin Tool has been changed to call the ADMIN_INFO_SYSPARM stored procedure instead of the DSNWZP stored procedure to get Db2 subsystem parameter values. DSNWZP is deprecated in Db2 12. Ensure that ADMIN_INFO_SYSPARM is operational.
