APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Enterprise COBOL V5 program may receive DFSORT message ICE025A
  or abend U0025 when the termination of DFSORT is signaled
  before the sort process has completed.
  

Local fix

• Specify DFSORT option NOCHECK

  The logic in the COBOL library had an error if the SORT OUTPUT
  PROCEDURE ends before DFSORT has returned all the output
  records. Note that the COBOL program is allowed to terminate
  OUTPUT PROCEDURE when needed. The outstanding output records
  cause DFSORT to ABEND subsequently with message ICE025A.
  

Problem conclusion

• The COBOL runtime has been corrected to work properly for this
  scenario.
