APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • Taddm checks if the output of 'prtdiag' command contains
'VMware' string or not. If it contains 'VMware' then virtual
flag sets true otherwise it remains false. Since in customer's
log as well we can see that this command output doesn't contain
'VMware' that is why in this case as well the virtual flag is
false and it gets discovered as a physical server.

-So I am adding code change to execute
'virtinfo' command to check virtualization.

Problem summary

  • Few solaris servers were getting discovered as physical servers
even if those were virtual  because the output string of
 prtdiag  command doesn t contain  VMware
string. So in addition to  prtdiag , one more command
 virtinfo  executed to decide if solaris server is
virtual or physical by setting virtual flag to true or false.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix for APAR is contained in the following maintenance
packages:
