APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When there is ?_? character in the hostname then ASD Sensor
fails and in logs ?ASDSensor- DEBUG sensor.ASDSensor - No
discovery result found for file name <file Name with incorrect
host>. This happens because code is written for valid hosts and
underscore is invalid. So a mismatch in the file name taken in
ASDPingSensor and ASDSensor occurs and discovery fails.

Local fix

  • Remove the ?_? character from hostname because underscore is
    invalid in constructing a hostname.
    Codefix/Resolution: In the
code the result package fetched from the Bigfix server is
treated to expect an underscore in hostname.
    So result package
is splitted over some other delimiter instead of ?underscore?
as used till now and processed.

Problem summary

  • In BigFix discovery, ASD Sensor fails When there is any
underscore character( ¡_ ) in the hostname and in logs
visible error is ASDSensor- DEBUG sensor.ASDSensor No
discovery result found for file name <file Name with incorrect
    host> .
This happens because code is written for valid hosts and
underscore is invalid as per current design. So a mismatch in
the file name taken in ASDPingSensor and ASDSensor occurs and
discovery fails. Code is changed to provide support even if
there is underscore character in the hostname.
