When two data sources are configured in a Liberty server using
the same JNDI name, the configuration manager component of the
Liberty server displays an error message in the log but still
passes the configuration. The error messages found in the
ffdc.log file are similar to the following:
[AUDIT ] CWWKE0001I: The server myServer has been launched.
    [ERROR ] CWWKG0031E: The value jdbc/fwk01datasource specified
for unique attribute jndiName.unique is already in use.
[ERROR ] [com.ibm.ws.jdbc.dataSource] The activate method has
    thrown an exception Bundle:com.ibm.ws.jdbc(id=55)
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: default-
    0:jndiName=jdbc/fwk01datasource
[ERROR ] [com.ibm.ws.jdbc.dataSource] Component instance could
not be created, activation failed Bundle:com.ibm.ws.jdbc(id=55)

Problem conclusion

  • The configuration manager has been updated to reject the
configuration of 2 data sources with the same JNDI name.
