Symptom

Cause

A possible cause could be:
- having selected the incorrect host id type for the host id used when creating the license key, e.g. you selected host id type Ethernet Address (Windows, Linux, UNIX, or Solaris), but you entered the Disk Volume Serial Number in the Host ID field.

Diagnosing The Problem

If you chose the Disk Volume Serial Number as host id when creating the license key(s), then the license file you downloaded from the IBM Rational License Key Center would show DISK_SERIAL_NUM= in the SERVER line of the license file, e.g:
SERVER <name of the server> DISK_SERIAL_NUM=<disk id> <lmgrd port number>
If you selected any of the other host id types available,  Ethernet Address (Windows, Linux, UNIX, or Solaris), or Hostid (Solaris only), then you would not have any text preceding the host id in the license file, e.g:
SERVER <name of the server> <ethernet address> <lmgrd port number> , or
SERVER <name of the server> <host id Solaris> <lmgrd port number>
To obtain the correct host id of the machine that serves the license keys, you can click on Host ID on the Required Information page in the IBM Rational License Key Center, which will then open a new window "Host ID for keys using FLEXlm-based licensing", which contains information about how to obtain the host id on various platforms.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the problem you will need to first return the faulty license key(s), via the Return Keys link in the IBM Rational License Key Center, and then create a new license key, via the Get Keys link, entering the correct host details in the relevant fields of the Required Information page.
