Step by steps instructions to install a Maximo Asset Management 7.6.x Industry Solution or add-on interim fix


To install an Interim Fix for an add-on or Industry Solution for Maximo Asset Management 7.6.x.


Interim Fix Uninstall Information: Interim Fixes are compressed .zip files contain updated files matching the Maximo directory structure. Installed correctly, new files overwrite existing files in your Maximo directory structure and add database scripts to be run to modify your database. To "uninstall" an Interim Fix, restore the <install_home> and the database backups.
  • Back up the existing Maximo directory (called <install_home>). In Windows, the default location of <install_home> is C:\IBM\SMP\maximo. In Linux, the default location of <install_home> is /opt/IBM/SMP/maximo
  • Back up the database.
  • Extract the Interim Fix file into the <install_home> directory.
  • When prompted to Overwrite existing files and Use folder names, accept both.
  1. Ensure that no database configuration changes are pending.
  2. Shut down the Maximo application server.
  3. Back up the database.
  4. Back up the \maximo directory.
  5. Extract the files into the <install_home> folder, selecting the Overwrite existing files and the Use folder names options.
  6. Either use the Configuration Tool (default location C:\IBM\SMP\ConfigTool\ConfigUI.exe (Windows) or /IBM/SMP/ConfigTool/ConfigUI) to update the database and build the maximo and maximo-x application archives, or perform these steps manually:
    1. Launch an Administrative Command prompt or terminal window.
    2. Navigate to the tools directory (default location C:\IBM\SMP\maximo\tools\maximo (Windows) or /IBM/SMP/maximo/tools/maximo (Linux))
    3. Run updatedb.bat (Windows) or ./ (Linux) to update the database with all interim fix database scripts
    4. Once complete, run configdb.bat (Windows) or ./ (Linux).
  7. Apply manual updates if required. To find the manual updates for each APAR, see the Manual Changes column in the Interim Fix spreadsheet.
  8. IBM WebSphere Application Server: Delete the application server cache folders. Go to Clearing WebSphere temporary file caches for Maximo Asset Management for instructions.
  9. Oracle WebLogic Server, delete the cache and tmp directories at <weblogic_root>\user_projects\domains\mydomain\servers\AdminServer\.
  10. Delete the Web browser cache on every computer that uses Maximo base services.
  11. Rebuild and redeploy maximo.ear and maximo-x.war. Go to Rebuilding and Redeploying Maximo EAR File(s) for instructions.
  12. Start the Web application server.
