Abstract

Support of NetApp devices with IBM Storage Insights Pro and IBM Spectrum Control 5.4 (all versions).

Content

NetApp devices were tested with the following data source levels and devices:

Device Configuration:

  • IBM Spectrum Control collects data from an NetApp ONTAP 9 device by connecting directly to the device. 

  
Tips:

  • Storage system data is probed and collected once every 24 hours, unless probe schedule is not daily, for example a weekly probe.

  • Newer providers and firmware levels are also supported. If any problems occur when you use newer firmware or provider levels, open a support ticket. IBM Support will investigate the problem and attempt to resolve it.

  
Limitations and considerations

  • 1 Monitoring non-IBM, software-defined storage is not supported. To monitor non-IBM storage systems, you must add them as storage systems in IBM Spectrum Control or IBM Storage Insights.
  • 2 If you have installed IBM Spectrum Control on AIX, or if you have deployed the IBM Storage Insights data collector on AIX, you must install the libgcc<version>.ppc system library using root privileges before you add NetApp storage systems. To download the library, go to the AIX Toolbox for Linux Applications. Find the appropriate version of the library for your AIX installation. The minimum version required is libgcc6-6.3.0-1.
  • NetApp has ended support for Data ONTAP 8, therefore IBM Spectrum Control and IBM Storage Insights has removed support.  For more information see NetApp support site:  https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/info/version-support
