New guide for optimizing Tivoli Storage Manager performance

Try out the new Optimizing Performance publication, now available in the Tivoli Storage Manager wiki, and in the V6.3 and V6.4 product information centers.

This publication is a culmination of months of work with the experts in Tivoli Storage Manager development, test, performance, and support teams, members of the Advanced Technical Skills team, and customers. The publication features a whole new approach:

• Configuration best practices for the server database, storage pools, clients, and more

• Guidance for identifying performance bottlenecks in the environment

• Flowcharts and graphics that illustrate key processes and practices

This edition applies to V6.4 and V6.3, and replaces previous editions of the Performance Tuning Guide.

After you download it and begin to use the best practices and great guidance it contains, tell us what you think. We are continuously updating the publication, and we welcome your feedback on content and usability.

In June 2013, we added information about the new Tivoli Storage Manager Operations Center, more details about server threads for performance diagnosis, and minor technical updates. And it's now available in the product information centers:
