Abstract
This document describes the support for DB2 Native Encryption introduced in APAR 2 of IBM Data Studio 4.1.1.
Content
When starting an instance:
When you use Data Studio to start a DB2 for LUW instance, Data Studio starts a backend thread to check whether the remote DB2 server is encrypted or not.
If the remote DB2 server is encrypted, a message is displayed to indicate the instance is encrypted. Click the edit button and go to the SQL editor to start the instance with a keystore, if no stash file exists for the keystore password. For example:

If the remote DB2 server is not an encrypted instance, no message is displayed.
When creating a database:
Data Studio does not support the creation of encrypted databases in the Task Assistant. To create an encrypted database, use the SQL Editor.
When backing up or restoring:
For encrypted databases, Data Studio supports only BACKUP and RESTORE using the default ENCRLIB and ENCROPTS parameters in the database configuration.
The Task Assistant does not support specifying ENCRLIB and ENCROPTS parameters in the BACKUP and RESTORE commands. Additionally, the Task Assistant does not support running RESTORE to a different database with encryption options.
