Introduction
To help you to prepare for upcoming releases, we are excited to give you a preview of what is coming soon in Watson Care Manager. Care teams will be able to send and receive messages from their clients that are sent from the client's Connect Individuals application (if licensed). Administrators will be able to configure client data by using new application pages as the Client Data Editor will be removed. In addition, there are updates to Reporting. Coming soon for all users
Signing in with your organization's identity provider
Watson Care Manager  Reporting

Existing customers will be able to request that Watson Care Manager and the Reporting application integrate with their third-party identity provider.  This means that your organization's identity provider will authenticate user access to both applications instead of authentication through IBM's default identity provider, IBM App ID.

In addition, customers will be able to automatically onboard users from their identity provider to Watson Care Manager through a new API. The required IBM Copyright notice, which is not visible on the sign in page when users sign in with your identity provider, will be displayed to signed in users every 30 days. To request this integration, please submit a case on the Watson Health Support Portal.  (262425, 262034, 263781).

Coming soon for care teams

Sending messages to clients

Watson Care Manager
So that your clients can contact you and other members of the care team if they have questions or issues related to their care plan, they will be able to send you messages from their Connect Individuals application. If you have unread messages from your clients, Watson Care Manager will notify you. You will be able to manage your message notifications, send new message to clients, and filter the list of messages between a single client and their care team.
Note: Your administrator must enable the messaging feature to send and receive messages.
Use of the messaging feature will be subject to a new terms of use that will be referenced on the messaging page. The terms of use will be available in the Watson Care Manager product documentation in the IBM Knowledge Center.

Prefilled answers for assessments and questionnaires

Watson Care Manager
So that you can complete assessments and questionnaires more efficiently and with less clicks, assessment and questionnaire answers will be prefilled with the client's previous responses (if configured by your Administrator). Note: Answers will only be prefilled based on your Administrator's configuration for the appropriate level of answer prefilling.

Viewing preferred client identifications

Watson Care Manager
So that you can easily see a client's preferred identification for communications, you will no longer need to specify the preferred identification for each client. Your administrator will be able to configure a default preferred identification for all clients as an alternative to you manually specifying this for each client. If configured, the client's preferred identification will be shown on the client context pane, the share care plan PDF, and the assessments and questionnaire PDFs.
Summary card refresh
Watson Care Manager

Previously not all cards on the client's summary page automatically refreshed when the data that populates them was created, edited or deleted. When you update the related data from any location in the Care Manager workspace, its corresponding summary card will automatically refresh based on your changes.

Coming soon for administrators
Enabling client messaging

Watson Care Manager

By default, the messaging feature will be disabled. You will be able to enable messaging so that care teams and clients can use it.  Clients must have an active Connect Individuals user account to receive messages and for care teams to send messages to clients. Use of the messaging feature will be subject to a new terms of use that will be referenced on the messaging page. The terms of use will be available in the Watson Care Manager product documentation in the IBM Knowledge Center.

Configuring client data

Watson Care Manager

Adobe® will end support of Flash Player on December 31 2020. This means that the Client Data Editor which is built on Adobe Flash will be removed and you will be able to configure client data using new application pages. Your existing client data configurations will not be impacted. However, to make changes to existing client data types or to configure new client data types, you must use the new pages.

Subscribing to assessment notifications

Watson Care Manager

So that integrated external systems can receive notifications when care teams complete client assessments in Watson Care Manager, you will be able to subscribe them to assessment notifications. Watson Care Manager will send a notification to the external system about the update (via webhooks). Integrators can retrieve the latest version of the data by using the Assessments API.
Configuring prefilled assessments and questionnaires

Watson Care Manager

So that you can configure the appropriate level of answer prefilling for your organization's assessments and questionnaires, you will be able to configure prefill for assessments, questionnaires, and for individual questions in an assessment or questionnaire.

Configuring preferred identifications

Watson Care Manager

You will be able to configure a specific identification type as the preferred identification for all clients. If no other identification is set as a client's preferred identification by a care team member, the configured preferred identification type will be used when recorded for clients.

Configuring automatically generated tasks due today

Watson Care Manager

To help care team members to identify which tasks they need to work on today, the calculation that Watson Care Manager uses to determine the due date for configured tasks that are automatically added will be updated. If you set the Due Date (Days) field for a configured task to 0, the auto-generated task's due date will be automatically set to the current business date.

Coming soon for reporting
Ability to report on multiple workspaces

Reporting
So that you can create a report for a user with multiple workspaces, the user’s table in the Individuals, Touchpoints, Notes and Tasks folders will be updated to include a workspaces data item. This will contain all the user’s assigned workspaces including their default workspace.
Assigning multiple security roles to users
Reporting

So that you can create reporting content for your organization and manage user access to the content, you will be able to assign both the WCM Super User role and the WCM Security role to a single user account. Previously, if you wanted to assign multiple security roles to a user, that user needed to have a separate account for each role assignment with a different email address for each. Note: the WCM Super User role and the WCM Security roles are the only combination of roles that you will be able to assign to a single user account.

Coming soon for individuals
Sending messages to your care team
Connect Individuals
So that you can contact your care team if you have questions or issues related to your care plan, you will be able to send messages to your care team from your Connect Individuals application. You will be notified by email when you receive new messages from your care team. You will not receive additional email notifications if you have unread messages. You will be able to turn off email notifications at any time in your account settings.
Use of the messaging feature will be subject to a new terms of use that will be referenced on the messaging page. The terms of use will be available in the Watson Care Manager product documentation in the IBM Knowledge Center.
Coming soon for integrations and APIs
Updated Assessments API
Watson Care Manager
  • Assessments API - The assessments API will be updated so that external systems can retrieve completed client assessments that are configured to be shared in Watson Care Manager. When the assessment is retrieved by an external system through the API, users of the external system can view the assessment records and have a more complete view of the client’s context.
New Federated Users API
Watson Care Manager
  • Federated Users API - A new API will be available to allow integrators to automatically onboard federated users to Watson Care Manager from a third-party identity provider external to IBM. When the users are received through the API, their access to Watson Care Manager and the Reporting application will be authenticated by your organization's identity provider.
