How to move from IDz floating licenses on license servers to IDz EE/ADFz host-based value unit licensing?

Question & Answer

Question

If IDz floating licenses for clients are currently being used, what is the best method to move and enable the host-based value unit licensing after upgrading to IDz EE  or ADFz?

Answer

The editions of IBM Developer for z Systems Enterprise Edition (IDz EE) or Application Delivery Foundation for z/OS (ADFz) must have been downloaded from ShopZSeries.
Only these versions are packaged with the additional components from Debug for z Systems and the feature for Value Unit licensing.
The Passport Advantage version of IBM Developer for z Systems does not include the added debug components or the value unit licensing.
Traditional activation kits and floating licenses can be used with the Passport Advantage edition.

IDz EE and ADFz editions value unit licensing are not enabled on installation.
To enable the Value Unit licensing, activate ADFz or IDZ EE in PARMLIB(IFAPRDzz) and restart the RSED server.

Prior to activation, IDz clients can still use the Rational Floating License server to receive floating licenses.

Once the PARMLIB in IFAPRDzz is defined to enable Value Unit licensing for IDz EE or ADFz, the IDz host will begin handing out activation codes to clients and the license server becomes obsolete. No client changes are required.
