Question & Answer
Question
Do I need to have any special setting in Putty to enable it to recognize z/OS Provisioning Toolkit commands? When I run the z/OS PT command zospt ps -all to list containers using the Putty command line it does not display any output.
When using the OMVS command line, I get back the expected lists of the containers in any of the following states: being provisioned, provisioned, provisioning failed, being deprovisioned, deprovisioned, and deprovisioning failed.
Answer
Check the region size. This problem is usually caused by insufficient MEMLIMIT setting. I increased the MEMLIMIT to 2G and now I am able to see results from the z/OSPT commands in Putty.
Refer to Setting the region size (z/OS only) in the IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition documentation for more information.
