The number returned for the NMI call for EEHNMHPRCONNTYPE is always one higher than the number of actual RTP pipes. .

Question & Answer

Question

When I issue a D NET,RTPS command in VTAM I get a total of 25 RTP PU's returned. However when I use the NMI (Network Management interface) and the EEHNMHPRCONNTYPE call the EEHNMQNUMBER is 26. Why is there always 1 higher than the number of actual RTP PU's?

Answer

There is a Global Summary Record that is always included in the response. That record bumps the count by 1.

The records that are returned are:
(1) EE Summary Global Record (one)
(2) EE Summary IP Address Record (one per local IP address being used for EE connections)
