How To
Summary
This document provides steps on how to order fixes on physical media using Fix Central.
Objective
Steps
After identifying the fixes to be ordered from the Fix Central website, the 'Download options' screen will be displayed. If the user has a valid Software Maintenance Agreement with IBM, the option to 'Order fixes on physical media' can be selected. After selecting the 'Continue' button, the user will see an 'Order fixes on media' screen. Review the 'Contact Information' on this screen and verify that the address provided is accurate. A street address must be specified. If a post office (PO) box is used, the order will be rejected. Also ensure that the Country/region is accurate as the order will be rejected if this information is incorrect.
Note: The country field cannot be edited on the 'Contact Information' screen. If fixes need to be ordered to a different country than where you reside, the primary address listed in your IBM ID will need to be updated. Instructions for updating your IBM ID are included later in this document.
After verifying the contact information is accurate, click the 'Submit' button to place the order. After the order has been placed, take note of the COER# on the 'Order details' screen. The order progress can be monitored via the following website:
https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/ssos/order_status
Another option to view the order status, is to select 'Work with my recent orders' on the right-hand side of the 'Identify fixes' screen from Fix Central. Then select the order to view and select 'View' at the bottom of the page. From the 'Order summary' screen, one should see the COER # and if the order has been built, should have the ability to view the order status and tracking information.
Note: Physical media can take 2 to 3 weeks to be delivered. If you need PTFs in a more timely manner, use one of the other methods offered on Fix Central to download the fixes electronically.
How to update the primary address listed in your IBM id:
Edit your IBM ID profile. One way to do this, is to navigate to myibm.ibm.com, login with your IBM ID and then select the 'Profile' tab. In the address section, click the pencil icon to edit this field and add a new personal address with the address where you would like the PTF order to be shipped. Be sure to specify the country/region with the country the address resides in. Select the radio button to 'Mark as primary'. See image below for an example. Then click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page. Now when you order PTFs on physical media via fix central, the country displayed will pull from the address marked as primary from your IBM ID.
Note: If this is a temporary order or temporary change, make sure that after you have placed the order, change the country/region back.
