OA59088: 50-6 ERROR WHEN ACCESSING EXISTING GDSS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The most common external symptom of this error is an ABEND614-34
  attempting to close a GDS data set.  The abend is the result of
  a 50-6, No NVR Found condition returned to Close processing from
  catalog.  In these cases, the 50-6 is invalid since the
  sms-managed GDS does in fact exist on the volume with a valid
  NVR.  Processing in catalog corrupts the nvr locate function
  into believe there is keyrange data associated to the data set
  name key such that the NVRs are not correctly identified.

  VERIFICATION STEPS:
  This error can be verified by determining a GDS was affected and
  that it did exist on the volume specified.  An F
  CATALOG,DUMPON(050,006,E0) can be by support for additional
  verification.  OA58285 should also be applied which address
  another common cause of a abend614-34
