Error description

  • When CVAF calls EXCP and an ABEND occurs, CVAF does not
    correctly clean up a SYSVTOC ENQ which results in an orphan
    SYSVTOC ENQ.

Local fix

  • RECOVERY ACTION:
    To remove the ENQ:
    1. Cancel or recycle the job or address space holding the ENQ
    2. If that does not work, IPL
    
    The following recovery action will help to cancel the ENQ from
    either the SMS or ALLOCAS address space in an attempt to avoid
    an IPL.
    
    D GRS,C that shows the TCB holding SYSVTOC of the problem DASD.
    
    If the issue is with SMS holding SYSVTOC, then Cancel SMS
    address space with;
    
      C SMS
    
    If this does not work, then attempt (take caution when using
    this command and use it as a last resort);
    
      FORCE SMS,ARM
    
    If the issue is with ALLOCAS holding SYSVTOC, then issue
      FORCE ALLOCAS,TCB=tttttt
      - where tttttt is the 6 digit hexidecimal TCB address found in
    
    ****  FORCE and FORCE,ARM should only be     ****
    ****  used with the guidance of IBM Support. ****
