1. ABOUT THIS RELEASE
=====================================================================

[Name change]

As of V9.0, Standards Processing Engine and WebSphere Transformation Extender have new names:

• Standards Processing Engine is now named IBM Transformation Extender Advanced, or ITXA
• WebSphere Transformation Extender is now named IBM Transformation Extender, or ITX

In V9.0, the Trading Partner UI, application software, and documentation continue to use the product names WebSphere Transformation Extender and Standards Processing Engine. The name change will be completed in an upcoming release.

2. INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION

[Installation prerequisites]

You can install IBM Transformation Extender Advanced (ITXA) V.9.0 on any supported version of the Linux, UNIX, or Windows operating system. See the Detailed System Requirements for Transformation Extender Advanced portfolio.

If installing IBM Transformation Extender (ITX) V.9.0 common components for use with ITXA on Solaris, be aware that ITX requires the compatibility/ucb package. Solaris 11 systems might not include the package by default. (Earlier versions of Solaris do include the package.) See the "Known Limitations" section for more information.

To enable ITX to recognize the ITXA server components, install ITX V9.0.0 prior to installing ITXA server components. Alternately, if you prefer to install the ITXA server components before ITX, follow the procedure under "ITX does not recognize ITXA" in Section 4, below.

4. KNOWN LIMITATIONS, PROBLEMS, AND WORKAROUNDS
=====================================================================

[Java issue on pLinux platform]

If running ITXA on pLinux with the included Derby database, execute the spederbystart.sh script before executing the spesetup.sh command.
This addresses differences between the Java versions that are distributed with ITX and ITXA.


[Error message received when running WebSphere Transformation Extender outbound transactions on instance of Solaris 11]

Issue: When running WebSphere Transformation Extender outbound transactions on an instance of Solaris 11, this message is received:

librpcsoc.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory

Note that the file libdstxjpi.so is present under the specified path, WTXInstallDir/libs.

Cause: WebSphere Transformation Extender requires the compatibility/ucb package. Solaris 11 systems might not include the package by default. Earlier versions of Solaris do include the package.

Workaround: To install the compatibility package, follow the procedure in the troubleshooting technote WebSphere Transformation Extender returns "librpcsoc.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory" error on Solaris 11 systems.

[IBM Transformation Extender does not recognize ITXA after a subsequent IBM Transformation Extender installation]

Issue: A customer installs IBM Transformation Extender after ITXA has been installed, and IBM Transformation Extender does not recognize ITXA.

Background: When ITXA is installed, it checks if IBM Transformation Extender is installed. If IBM Transformation Extender is installed, ITXA updates the IBM Transformation Extender dtx.ini file.

If a customer installs IBM Transformation Extender after SPE has been installed, the dtx.ini file does not contain the location of the prior ITXA installation.

Workaround:

1. Manually update the IBM Transformation Extender itx_install/dir/config/dtx.ini file by appending the following lines:

[SPE]
SPE_INSTALL_DIR=C:/IBM/Standards Processing Engine 9.0.0

2. Edit the spewtxenv script in the spe_install_dir/bin directory. Change this line to set DTXHOME to the WTX install directory:

%INSTALLREPLACEMENTSTRING%

• (Windows operating system) The spewtxenv.bat script specifies the ITX installation. Example:

set DTXHOME=C:\IBM\WebSphere Transformation Extender 9.0.0

• (Linux and UNIX operating systems) The spewtxenv.sh script specifies the ITX installation. Example:

DTXHOME="/itx_install_dir"; export DTXHOME


[Some characters are not available for use in naming a resource]

Issue: The following characters are reserved by the Trading Partner UI, and therefore should not be used when naming a resource: "|" (pipe), "^" (caret), and ":" (colon).

Workaround: Avoid the use of these characters when naming resources.


[Known issues in non-English versions of SPE documentation]

See the English version of the ITXA documentation for the most recent documentation.

[Labels not translated]

In the French version of the documentation, the text appears in English for two graphics:

• "Figure 1: Sample deployment" in the Planning section
• "Figure 1: Standards Processing Engine architecture" in the Overview section

Each graphic is fully described in its accompanying translated text. Translations for the graphics will be added in a future ITXA Knowledge Center update.

[Chinese documentation link displays English page]

In the Traditional Chinese translation of the "Export services" topic, a link to the REST APIs overview displays the topic in English. You can navigate to the translated version of the REST API overview topic from the contents menu.

5. NEW AND CHANGED BEHAVIOR

ITXA supports the release of the IBM Transformation Extender Pack for Financial Payments.

For an overview of recent features in ITXA V.9.0, see the What's New information in the IBM Knowledge Center.

Deprecated functions, components, and platforms

Per IBM policy, these operating systems are still supported with this release of the product, but they will be withdrawn from support in a future release.

The following functions, components, and platforms are deprecated in ITXA V9.0 and later:

• Solaris SPARC platform
• HP-UX Itanium platform
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 and 7 for POWER System-Big Endian
• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11 and 12 for POWER System-Big Endian

Removed functions, components, and platforms

32-bit platforms are no longer supported as of ITXA 9.0.
