Prerequisites and co-requisites

General description
This is an interim fix for the Monitoring agent for HTTP Server provided with IBM Performance Management family of products, Version 8.1.3.0.
It includes fixes for the HTTP Server agent and upgrades the agent from version 01.00.04.00, 01.00.04.01 or 01.00.04.02 to version 01.00.04.03

Platforms and prerequisites

The Monitoring Agent for HTTP Server patch is supported on the platforms documented here.

Prerequisites for this interim fix
The interim fix for the HTTP Server agent is intended to be applied to the Monitoring Agent for HTTP Server version 01.00.04.00, 01.00.04.01 or 01.00.04.02 which is provided with:

IBM Monitoring, Version 8.1.3.0
IBM Application Performance Monitoring, Version 8.1.3.0
IBM Application Performance Monitoring Advanced, Version 8.1.3.0.

Installation information

Prior to installation

The Monitoring Agent for HTTP Server agent version 01.00.04.00, 01.00.04.01 or 01.00.04.02 must be installed and running before applying the agent interim fix.

Installing

Installing the Performance Management Agent interim fix
Installing the Monitoring Agent for HTTP Server update

  1. Change to the following directory:
    • <HTTP_server_installation_directory>/bin
  2. Stop the HTTP server.
    • Linux/AIX: ./apachectl -k stop

  3. Download the patch bundle from Fix Central for each OS type where your agent is installed :
    • - If the agent is installed on Linux, download 8.1.3.0-IBM-IPM-HTTP-SERVER-AGENT-XLINUX-IF0003.tar
    • - If the agent is installed on AIX, download 8.1.3.0-IBM-IPM-HTTP-SERVER-AGENT-AIX-IF0003.tar
  4. Unpack the patch bundle (untar on Linux/AIX)
  5. Enter the created directory.
  6. (For AIX platform only) Run slibclean command as root user.
  7. Run the apmpatch.sh tool:
    • Linux/AIX:
      ./apmpatch.sh [ <APM agent install directory> ]

      Notes: the <APM agent install directory> parameter only needs to be provided if the agent is installed in a non-default directory on Linux and AIX.
  8. Start the HTTP server.
      cd <HTTP_server_installation_directory>/bin
    • Linux/AIX: ./apachectl -k start

Performing the necessary tasks after installation of the interim fix

A successful installation modifies the Monitoring Agent for HTTP Server version to 01.00.04.03.

On Linux or AIX:

  • Ensure that the <APM-AGENT-HOME>/bin/cinfo -t output for the Monitoring Agent for HTTP Server is '01.00.04.03'.
  • The agent interim fix installation logs are written to the <APM-AGENT-HOME>/logs/ directory.

Uninstalling if necessary

This maintenance package cannot be rolled back. If necessary you can uninstall and reinstall the monitoring agent and patches.
