Known Issues
-
Known issues and workarounds for shell sharing products with the IBM Data Studio client, Version 4.1.0.1
-
There are a few known issues when installing the 4.1.0.1 version of the IBM Data Studio client into package groups with IBM InfoSphere Data Architect Version 9.1 and IBM Rational Developer for System z Version 9.0. Review the following installation scenarios for details about the known issues and the existing workarounds for shell sharing these products:
- Shell sharing with IBM InfoSphere Data Architect 9.1
Known issue:
Errors occur when installing InfoSphere Data Architect Version 9.1 into an existing package group that contains the Data Studio client, Version 4.1.0.1 with all the national languages installed.Workarounds:
To install InfoSphere Data Architect Version 9.1 and the Data Studio client Version 4.1.0.1 into the same package group, you can perform one of the following workarounds:Choose to install only the English language for the Data Studio client: If you must install the Data Studio client before InfoSphere Data Architect, you must install only the English language. If you install additional or other languages with the Data Studio client, when you try to install InfoSphere Data Architect into the same product package, errors will occur. Install InfoSphere Data Architect before you install the Data Studio client: If you install InfoSphere Data Architect into a product package before you install the Data Studio client, you can successful shell-share the products. By installing InfoSphere Data Architect first, you can also install other languages with the product and then continue to install the Data Studio client without errors. - Shell sharing with IBM Rational Developer for System z Version 9.0
Known issue:
Using a downloaded Data Studio client image to perform an installation into the same package group as Rational Developer for System z Version 9.0 causes errors.Workarounds:
To install Rational Developer for System z Version 9.0 and the Data Studio client Version 4.1.0.1 into the same product package, you must install the Data Studio client by using the online repository. For example, you must choose the "recommended" option that is specified in the download document at http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24036476, for downloading the product code through IBM Installation Manager. For your convenience, here is the direct link to downloading Installation Manager in order to download and install the Data Studio client, Version 4.1.0.1 from an online repository: Download Installation Manager to download and install Data Studio. For details about choosing the product package for shell-sharing, see the online documentation.
- Shell sharing with IBM InfoSphere Data Architect 9.1
You must run the -clean option after uninstalling a product from a package group
For all shell-shared Eclipse products, after you uninstall a product from a package group, you must use the
-cleanoption to start any of the remaining products in that package group. For example, if you uninstall Data Studio from a package group where Rational Application Developer is also installed, then you must start Rational Application Developer with the
-cleanoption.For more information about using the
-cleanoption, see the following information center topics:- Starting the product in the IBM Data Studio documentation.
- Starting the product in the IBM InfoSphere Data Architect documentation.
