IBM Counter Fraud Management 2.0.0.1 installation considerations

Release Notes

Abstract

This information supplements the official ICFM 2.0.0.1 system requirements documentation.

Content

Attention: See System Requirements for IBM Counter Fraud Management 2.0.0.1 for the official system requirements for the ICFM server (Linux-based) and tools client (Windows-based).

Server requirements

Server Operating System requirements
  • You can apply fix packs for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7, 64-bit (minimum OS required) as they become available. However, ICFM does not support newer release versions, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x. (ICFM installation does not work on newer release versions.)
  • Install ICFM on new, fresh Linux systems. The installation instructions assume that you selected the "Minimal" package group option when Linux is installed. These installation instructions were also verified to work with the "Basic Server" package group option.
Server CPU requirements
To view the amount of free and available RAM on your system, use the free command. For more information, see your Linux documentation.

Server disk space requirements
The minimum recommend available disk space is 150 GB if the installation media is located on the server. If the installation media is mounted remotely, such as on a network share, the minimum recommended disk space is 65 GB.

Important: Accepting the default values for Red Hat Server Default Storage allocation when you install Linux causes problems with the installation program. If your system has 150 GB of space or less, you must change the Red Hat Server Default Storage allocation values. Ensure that the logical volume for the root directory as specified by vg_hostname-lv-root is set to 60 GB or greater.

You can specify this size during installation, or when or you create a VM. First, take space from the /home logical volume (lv_home), which is called the vg_hostname-lv_home LVM Volume Group. During installation, or when or you create a VM, select the Review and modify partitioning layout option on the installation pane, which prompts "Which type of installation would you like?" for the disk layout.

See Verifying and allocating disk space in the IBM Knowledge Center for details on how to configure the disk space during the Linux installation or after the installation is completed.

To help determine the size of the Logical Volume Manager (LVM), enter the lsblk command from a terminal session.

Tip: To resize a logical volume, run the following command. You must substitute your logical volume paths as shown by the lvpath command: lvresize /dev/vg_cfmserver/tmp -L +10g resize2fs /dev/vg_cfmserver/tmp

Tools Client requirements

Tools Client CPU requirements
The minimum CPU required to install and run the ICFM client software is one of the following:
  • Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor (4th, 5th, or 6th generation)
  • AMD Desktop processor (released 2013 or later)

Tools Client disk space requirements
The ICFM installation program requires an additional 15 MB.

Optional supplemental server requirements for running both for ISII and i2 Analyze

Supplemental server operating system requirements
Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 6.7, 64-bit is the minimum required server operating system software.

Notes:
  • Install IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight (ISII) and i2 Analyze on a new, fresh Linux system.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x is not supported.

The installation instructions assume that you selected the "Minimal" package group option when Linux was installed.

Supplemental server CPU requirements for running both ISII and i2 Analyze
When installing ISII on dedicated hardware without virtualization for either a single or three-server environment, ISII and i2 Analyze require at least one of the following CPUs on each server:

  • Intel Xeon processor (released 2013 or later)
  • Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor (4th, 5th, or 6th generation)
  • AMD processor (released 2013 or later)

If ISII and i2 Analyze are installed as a virtual machine on a host server (for example, VMWare ESX or ESXi, or Oracle VirtualBox), each VM requires at least four Virtual CPUs (vCPUs) for each VM. This applies to both a single and three-server environment.

Supplemental server RAM requirements for running both ISII and i2 Analyze

Notes:
  • Install IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight (ISII) on a new, fresh Linux system.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x is not supported.

The installation instructions assume that you selected the "Minimal" package group option when Linux was installed.

Supplemental server CPU requirements for ISII only
When installing ISII on dedicated hardware without virtualization for either a single or three-server environment, ICFM requires at least one of the following CPUs on each server:

  • Intel Xeon processor (released 2013 or later)
  • Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor (4th, 5th, or 6th generation)
  • AMD processor (released 2013 or later)

If ISII is installed as a virtual machine on a host server (for example, VMWare ESX or ESXi, or Oracle VirtualBox), each VM requires at least two Virtual CPUs (vCPUs) for each VM. This applies to both a single and three-server environment.
