Tip: Beginning with Version 7.1.3, the products within the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager family were rebranded as IBM Spectrum Protect products. However, some areas, such as the documentation and support sites, do not use the new name until Version 8.1. Release notes for IBM Spectrum Protect Suite Entry V7.1.9 and later
IBM Spectrum Protect Suite Entry V7.1.9 and later are available. Overview, documentation, and support information is provided.
Tip: The product now known as IBM Spectrum Protect™ was named IBM Tivoli® Storage Manager in releases earlier than Version 7.1.3. To learn more about the rebranding transition, see Tivoli Storage Manager branding transition to IBM Spectrum Protect.
IBM Spectrum Protect Suite Entry is a bundled offering that is designed for businesses with smaller storage environments. It provides a comprehensive, unified recovery management solution that covers all aspects of data protection requirements. Pricing and licensing are based on a back-end terabyte metric. The back-end metric determines license requirements based on the terabytes of data that are stored in primary storage pools and repositories.
IBM Spectrum Protect Suite Entry applies to data protection environments with a maximum of 100 terabytes under management by IBM Spectrum Protect servers per enterprise. If you reach the maximum of 100 terabytes under management and foresee the need for more licenses, IBM requires you to upgrade to IBM Spectrum Protect Suite (5725-X05).
