TSM 6.1 HSM client system migration from Solaris to Linux or AIX

The 6.1 Solaris and HP IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) for Space Management (HSM) clients are supported as part of TSM for Space Management 6.2. With the End of Support of TSM 6.2 products on April 30, 2015, customers using the 6.1 Solaris backup-archive and HSM client must upgrade to a currently-supported TSM release.

The TSM for Space Management product on current releases only supports the AIX and Linux platforms, so a migration must also be performed by Solaris customers as part of the upgrade.

This generic procedure was developed and tested for migration from a 6.1.5.7 Solaris SPARC backup-archive and HSM client to a 7.1.1 or higher Linux or AIX GPFS client or AIX JFS2 client. Please note that this proposed procedure needs to be adapted to the specific customer system. Customers need to test this procedure first in their environment, and adapt it if necessary, before using this in a production environment.
