Product Documentation

Abstract

This document describes a procedure that must be followed when upgrading IBM© Cognos© TM1© Web or TM1 Application Web to an interim fix or fix pack

Content

The TM1 10.2 updater for an interim fix or fix pack places a new .war file in the <install_path>\<tm1_platform>\webapps directory. The existing tm1web directory is not, however, updated automatically.

To successfully upgrade your TM1 Web or TM1 Application Web installation, complete the following procedure before you start your TM1 10.2 updater installation.

1. Stop the Application server that is hosting TM1 Web or TM1 Application Web. If you are using the default configuration of the Application server this service is named IBM Cognos TM1 Application Server.

2. Move the existing tm1web directory in the <install_path>\<tm1_platform>\webapps folder to a location outside of the webapps directory, so that an archive of your tm1web directories and files exists.

The default location of the webapps directory on a 64-bit system is C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1_64\webapps. The default location on a 32-bit system is C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1\webapps.

After archiving the tm1web directory there must no longer be any version of tm1web in the webapps directory.

3. Start the TM1 10.2 updater installation. Once installation is complete proceed to step 4.

4. Start the Application server that is hosting TM1 Web or TM1 Application Web.

When you start the Application server a new tm1web directory, with all the attendant sub-directories and files, is created in the webapps directory.

5. Stop the Application server again.

6. This step is required only if you have previously modified any of the settings in the tm1web_config.xml file. If you have not previously modified this file, proceed to step 7.

Copy the \tm1web\WEB-INF\configuration\TM1web_config.xml file from your archive and paste into the new ..\tm1web\WEB-INF\configuration directory, overwriting any existing version of the file.

7. Copy the \webapps\tm1web\WEB-INF\web.xml file from your archive and paste into the new ..\webapps\tm1web\WEB-INF\ directory, overwriting any existing version of the file.

The web.xml file determines the authentication setup that you specified when configuring TM1 Web or TM1 Application Web for the first time.

8. Start the Application server that is hosting TM1 Web or TM1 Application Web.
