Abstract

This document describes how to download and assemble the IBM Control Center version 6.1.0.1 components using the IBM Passport Advantage Web site.

Download Description

IBM Control Center is a centralized monitoring and management system that is available in a high availability environment. IBM Control Center gives operations personnel the capability to continuously monitor business activities across the enterprise for IBM Sterling Connect:Direct, IBM Sterling Connect:Direct File Agent, IBM Sterling Connect:Enterprise, IBM Sterling Connect:Express, IBM QuickFile, IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, IBM Sterling File Gateway, IBM Sterling Secure Proxy, IBM MQ Managed File Transfer, FTP servers, as well as dynamically discovered servers, such as IBM Global High Availability Mailbox and IBM Transformation Extender Advanced. IBM Control Center also allows you to manage the configurations of Sterling Connect:Direct servers.

The general process below describes a typical installation for IBM Control Center:

  • Evaluate your hardware and system configuration
  • Plan your implementation
    • Implementation: How IBM Control Center will be used in your enterprise environment
    • Environment: What databases, event processor and database sizing, and hardware and software are required to handle the workload
    • Objects: What to set up and configure
    • Estimate the workload
  • Install and configure one of the following databases:
    • IBM DB2
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • Oracle
  • Install the IBM Control Center event processor or event processors, depending on whether IBM Control Center is installed in a high availability environment
  • Log in to and configure the event processor or event processors, depending on whether IBM Control Center is installed in a high availability environment
  • Configure the IBM Control Center objects to manage and monitor servers

Installation Instructions

Download Package

Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate your browser to the Find Downloads and Media page on the IBM Passport Advantage Online Web site. You must log on to continue.
  2. Select the Find by part number search option under Download finder options.
  3. Search for each downloadable image by part number (parts are listed and described by platform, below)
  4. Download all of the parts you need.
  5. Unpack each of the parts into a single, temporary directory on your system.
  6. Open the Quick Start image and follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide to install the product.

At a minimum, you must download IBM Control Center for your platform. The other downloads (Sterling External Authentication Server, and DB2 Assembly) are optional based on your business needs and IBM Control Center implementation.
