Tip: Beginning with Version 7.1.3, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Storage Area Networks is now IBM Spectrum Protect for SAN. Some applications such as the software fulfillment systems and IBM License Metric Tool use the new product name. However, the software and its product documentation continue to use the Tivoli Storage Manager for Storage Area Networks product name. This document describes how to download IBM Spectrum Protect for SAN Version 7.1.14 Windows® server installation images by using the Passport Advantage Online website. Information for the AIX, Linux, and UNIX servers is accessible via tabbed sections defined later in this document.

The IBM Spectrum Protect for SAN extension allows SAN-connected IBM Spectrum Protect servers and IBM Spectrum Protect client computers to make maximum use of their direct network connection to storage by performing backup/restore and archive/retrieve data transfers over the SAN instead of the LAN.

Space requirements for Windows, 64-bit

• 2765 MB of disk space to store the downloadable part.
• 5120 MB of disk space to unpack the part.
• 5120 MB of disk space for the installed product: 2048 MB in the installation directory, 512 MB in /var for new installations (2560 MB for version upgrades), and 2048 MB in /tmp.

Downloading and assembling the product

1. 1. Download the part that you need. The parts are listed by platform in the tabbed sections of this document.
   2. Unpack each downloaded part into a single temporary directory on your system.
   3. Follow the instructions in the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Storage Area Networks Guide to install the product.

IBM Spectrum Protect for SAN is available at the V7.1.14 level. As in previous releases, the storage agents are packaged with the V7.1.14 servers for installation.
