This utility generates Hive DDL from an InfoSphere Data Architect DB2 physical data model (.dbm). The utility is intended for use only with IBM Industry Data Models..

Download Description

The Hive DDL generation utility available for download contains a Powershell script that generates a Hive DDL from an InfoSphere Data Architect (IDA) DB2 physical data model.

The script is based on the Hive DDL documentation published on the Hive Wiki and can generate Hive DDL that is compatible with Hive 0.12.0 or later.

The script supports generation of Hive DDL for the AWM and DWM of the following IBM Industry Models Data Offerings:

    • IBM Banking and Financial Markets Data Warehouse
    • IBM Insurance Information Warehouse
    • IBM Unified Data Model for Healthcare
    • IBM Data Model for Energy and Utilities
  • The input model must be a DB2 IDA physical data model file (*.dbm)
  • The IDA physical data model must be for DB2 for Linux, Unix & Windows, version 9.7 or later.
Documentation and instructions are available from the Powershell script itself.

Prerequisites

  • Microsoft Windows Powershell v1.0
  • IBM InfoSphere Data Architect 9.1.2 or 9.1.3
  • One of the following IBM Industry Models Data offering:
    • IBM Banking and Financial Markets Data Warehouse
    • IBM Insurance Information Warehouse
    • IBM Unified Data Model for Healthcare
    • IBM Data Model for Energy and Utilities

Installation Instructions

  2. Extract the generate_hive_ddl_from_dbm.zip compressed/zip file
  3. Edit the generate_hive_ddl_from_dbm.ps1 file with a text editor. The detailed documentation is included at the beginning of the script
